Liposuction (Lipoplasty) FAQs

How is liposuction performed?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure performed by sucking excess fat out of a patient’s body using a stainless steel device attached to a hollow tube, or a cannula, which is inserted into the body through small incisions made by the cosmetic surgeon. A liquid is first injected into the body of the patient in order to minimize bleeding, balance loss of fluid and break apart the fat cells. In the case of Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction, ultrasonic vibrations are used to additionally break apart the fat cells.

What is the cost of liposuction?

A number of factors affect the cost of a liposuction including location, doctor, and individual patient needs. The price range of liposuction typically falls within $1,000 and $8,000.

Liposuction procedures will vary according to the amount of fat being removed from the body. Patients can expect the time of procedure to range anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours.
